SUNY Albany Onondaga and Oneida Hall Renovations
AOW competitively bid and was awarded the Onondaga & Oneida Halls Rehabilitation and Asbestos Abatement project being administered by The New York State Dormitory Authority. This project was one of many being undertaken by The State University of New York’s Albany Campus under The Facilities Master Plan which has identified and prioritized construction projects that advance the academic and research and support the Strategic Plan of the University. AOW has had a near continual presence on SUNY’s uptown campus for over a decade, completing renovations to dormitories, lab, and classroom spaces as well as completing exterior improvements, elevator upgrades, and providing demolition services.
Onondaga Hall is a three-story dormitory located near the center of the campus at the University of Albany. The project consisted of the complete interior demolition, abatement, and renovation of this 22,000 square-foot building. Particular challenges of the work included debris removal, especially from the upper floors and adherence to the quiet hours in place for students living on campus. Luxury vinyl flooring, mosaic tile, textured and lineal ceilings, architectural finishes, millwork, and 430 new, custom windows were installed. All new mechanical systems we required and feature radiant heating panels in every room. The building entry was transformed into a two-story atrium with glass at the second floor, creating visibility to and from the lobby. Oneida Hall, a minor portion of this project, received upgrade finishes throughout.
Upon completion of construction, this project was certified as LEED Gold.
