Albany International Escalator

The terminal and escalator improvements project at the Albany International Airport involved renovations to the entire first floor. This project required phasing to minimize the impact to the passenger check-in areas, baggage claim areas and the vertical circulation between the first floor and the security checkpoint.

Over the course of 8 months AOW coordinated the removal of the only two stairwells and two escalators that gave access to the boarding security checkpoint. The Mezzanine level was extended and reconfigured to accommodate four new escalators and one stairwell servicing the checkpoint.

In order for this project to be a success, maintaining easy access for airline passengers was critical. Coordination between AOW and the Albany County Airport Authority proved invaluable over the duration of the project.
