St. Peter’s Hospital Imaging Suite & Urology Renovations
AOW has completed a number of intricate projects for St. Peter’s Hospital successfully and their relationship continues to grow as a result. Expanding patient services at St. Peter’s Hospital resulted in the Hospital’s need to add an additional MRI to their campus. A space within the Hospital that formerly served as a film room and a medical records area was identified for the new medical imaging suite. This area was located between the Emergency Department and the active Medical Imaging Suite which needed to remain fully functional during construction activities. Extensive coordination, phasing, and temporary protections were required to ensure patient safety.
The work, in an 1,800 square foot space, was extensive and included involvement with several trades that performed abatement and demolition, concrete work, masonry, structural steel installation, plumbing, mechanical, medical gas work and electrical. A new automatic door slider, millwork, flooring, and accessories were installed. Specialize construction included the installation of an RF shielding system, a pre-action sprinkler system, and a nurse call system. A new rooftop unit and chiller were required to be craned onto the roof to provide adequate heating and cooling of the space and cooling of the MRI magnet. A feature of the suite is custom mural lighting above the MRI providing comfort to patients receiving an MRI.
This project also included an Owner issued change order for a 2,000 square foot renovation to a non-occupied area slated to become a Urology Ultrasound Clinic. This portion of the project included basic demolition work, installation of new walls and ceilings, and upgrades to sprinkler, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems. New doors, millwork, and accessories were also introduced into the space.
