Albany International Airport Security Checkpoint
The Albany International Airport Security expansion incorporated two small additions within a high traffic and highly secured area. This was the first undertaking in the Airport since the terrorist attacks of September 11th. The Authority was very sensitive and concerned about passenger and airline safety.
Construction was held to a higher standard to maintain separation between the general contractors and pre-boarding public. Constraints dictated that work outside was performed at the convenience of the airplane departure schedule. Absolutely no debris could be ignored do to the potential hazard of entering a powered jet engine. Interior finishes were held to the highest standards and included curved stainless steel railings, column covers, and curved ceiling features.
AOW was critical in coordinating this construction within the parameters dictated by a bustling airport.
