Relevant Experience

Albany Medical Center Connections (Gilbane Building Company)

This 90,000 square foot project is the largest hospital expansion project in the history of Northeastern New York. It was initiated in order to expand adult and neonatal intensive care units, as well as add new operating and recovery rooms. It increases the Medical Center’s licensed bed capacity from 631 to 747 and thereby enabling them to meet projected capacity for the next decade. AOW was selected to facilitate all connections from the new Patient Tower to the existing hospital.

Albany Medical Center Cardiac Cauterization Dept. Renovations

This 8,000 square foot project, at four different hospital locations, involved the complete demolition and rebuild of the entire Cardiac Cauterization Department.  AOW was selected to undertake this project in order to insure the hospital remained up-to-date with technology.  The project incorporated many specialized systems to include nurse’s call, oxygen, medical air, and vacuum.  Intricate coordination and extreme safety precautions were taken as a portion of the project involved asbestos abatement adjacent to occupied patient care areas.

Albany Medical Center “Way findings” Project

As Albany Medical Center grows, so does its commitment to making it easier for patients and visitors to navigate their hallways and grounds. Efforts are underway to update the environment and utilize signs, maps and other landmarks in a more user-friendly and understandable fashion with the help of AOW Associates. By organizing its way finding system, Albany Medical Center will help ensure that patients and family’s arrive at their desired destinations.

Stratton VA Medical Center Hot & Chilled Water Lines

One of many projects completed at the Stratton VA within a short time frame, the Hot & Chilled Water Line work included the construction of a 500 foot underground waterproof tunnel in order to accommodate the installation of new hot and chilled water lines running from the chiller plant to the Hospital. The tunnel was encased in underground waterproof concrete allowing personnel to perform maintenance along the entire route. The work included excavation, alterations to roads and walkways, grading, drainage, mechanical piping, new electrical, and asbestos abatement.

Schenectady County Community College Nanotech Laboratory Renovation

This project, a direct result of a $1 million dollar grant received by the college, included the demolition of an existing laboratory and its conversion into a laboratory space suitable for the Nanotech Program at SCCC. The renovation included mechanical upgrades comprised of fume hoods and a new roof top unit, new flooring and ceilings, upgraded lighting, and new laboratory casework. The mechanical upgrades were designed specifically to work independently of the existing mechanical system.
