The new Albany County Sheriff’s E911 Center and Emergency Operations Center is a brand-new building that AOW was selected to build. It is an 11,000 square foot facility that can accommodate 37 emergency dispatchers and call takers.

Timing was crucial at the start of this project as AOW was up against incoming winter conditions and were targeting to complete as much of the exterior work as possible before the snow. Fortunately, AOW was able to self-perform much of the early work which gave us the ability to control manpower and maintain the schedule. A ground thaw system was used to allow AOW to continuing working through the winter with no delays.

This building was outfitted to be tornado proof with 20-foot concrete walls and pre-cast, plank roof decking, along with several layers of back up to ensure uninterrupted service. That includes two generators, two HVAC systems, two power supply systems, and multiple fiber optic lines.

AOW created and installed a custom, curved wedge soffit in the ceiling of the Emergency Operations Center, with built-in LED lighting.

The finished building can process more than 150,000 calls yearly and can dispatch 5 law enforcement agencies, 15 fire departments, and 6 EMS agencies. This facility also houses Albany County’s new Emergency Operations Center, from which representatives can gather to mitigate man-made and natural disasters.
