Seton Health: St. Mary’s MRI

This new three-story addition to Seton Health/St. Mary’s Hospital houses MRI and CT equipment, which was utilized in a trailer on the hospital grounds. The 5,250-square-foot addition is constructed on a very confined site close to the ambulance entrance. Special precautions were taken to ensure that vehicles entering and exiting were not interrupted; in addition, construction was scheduled and managed with utmost concern for patient and staff safety.

The sensitivity of magnetic resonance imaging equipment calls for delicate coordination between all involved on the project. AOW assumed a proactive advisory role during the entire building process, anticipating potential design and construction problems in this critical addition. Maintaining a tight schedule was also a particular challenge of the project, as a timely completion of the structure is essential in order to accommodate the delivery and installation deadline of the magnet. The MRI/CT addition is a valuable medical asset to an entire region, helping to increase patient comfort and ease while delivering important medical services.
