Beverwyck
This 24-bed skilled nursing facility project was constructed on the Eddy’s Beverwyck Campus and was designed to allow hands on care for the elderly, accompanying the existing independent and assisted living communities. Construction took place on a fully occupied campus, therefore AOW took extra precautions to maintain the quality of life of the residents while work was being done.
The final building design included two separate and 9,500 square foot 12-bed houses. Common spaces included a Living Room, Den, Dining Room, Kitchen, Spa, Porch, and Patio opening onto a fenced-in yard which residents have access to at all times. Home-like settings were created to focus on the resident’s daily living activities while also providing the facilities required to deliver quality medical care. The idea was to create a home like feel while providing the highest quality care. Dignity and privacy are maintained by developing smaller living communities and provided each resident with a private bedroom and bathroom. This model significantly improved the level of care that residents receive.
